Domestic Violence Injunctions
“Restraining orders” or injunctions against domestic violence are legal orders put in place to protect you from physical harm. If you have been a victim of physical violence or feel there is a realistic threat of violence from your spouse, domestic partner or your child’s parent, you should contact an attorney or the police as soon as possible. A temporary injunction will be granted for 15 days, and a hearing will be held to determine if the injunction will be permanent.
All too often domestic violence is present in contentious divorces. It is a serious and sometimes deadly issue.
